Erin T. OConnell MSN-RN, MBA, LCP-C, CNLCP®, MSCC, CCM®, CNL has received national awards related to life care planning. She is the recipient of the 2020 AANLCP® Distinguished Service Award and the 2021 AANLCP Ambassador Award. She has been a nurse for almost two decades. She is licensed in Pennsylvania, Washington, Oregon, Texas, and Arizona. She has worked in a variety of specialties including long-term care, acute care, rehabilitation, emergency medicine, and radiology. In 2012, Ms. OConnell began providing case management and consulting services. In 2016, she became a certified nurse life care planner to complement her consulting services providing projected future care needs.
Ms. OConnell is an active member of the American Association of Nurse Life Care Planning (AANLCP). She served as AANLCP president from August 2018-December 2020. She is currently past president and takes pride in her work on the AANLCP Executive Board. She is co-chair of AANLCPs Research Committee developing research projects to support life care planning.
She enjoys promoting the niche field of Nurse Life Care Planning. Until 2021, Ms. OConnell had worked for the Veteran’s Affairs caring for veterans in the long-term care, hospice, and short-term rehabilitation. She was responsible to maintain nursing competencies, preparing for Long-Term Care Surveys, quality improvements, and policy and procedures.
Ms. OConnell has educated future nurses from a variety of colleges and universities.
Ms. OConnell has mentored and trained future nurses from a variety of colleges and universities. She is also a mentor for the AANLCP and provides guidance and leadership to current and future life care planners.
OConnell provides expert witness testimony in life care planning and UCR (past medical bill reviews). Ms. OConnell holds specialty certifications in Case Management, Life Care Planning, Medicare Set-Asides, and as a Clinical Nurse Leader. She has developed reports for evaluees in Florida, Pennsylvania, North Dakota, Washington, Texas, California, and Wisconsin.
Ms. OConnell has authored articles related to the field of Nurse Life Care Planning. She has presented at conferences nationally including TBI MedLegal America Association of Nurse Life Care Planners (AANLCP).
In her free time, she enjoys hiking, kayaking, and tennis.
